On Monday morning, August 5, Asake shared on his social media the track list for his upcoming project and third studio album, “Lungu Boy.” This comes a little over a month after the release of the lead single, “Wave,” featuring Central Cee. The album contains 13 tracks and one bonus track, and scores five heavy-weight features. The first track features Wizkid; Travis Scott appears on the fifth; Stormzy on the sixth; Ludmilla on the 13th track; and finally, Central Cee.
The announcement wasn’t entirely sudden to observing fans as the rollout for Asake’s “Lungu Boy” slowly began in April after he popped out with a new look, cutting off his dreads, shaving his beards safe for his moustache, and getting new tattoo placements.
The experience of a rollout carries as much significance as the body of work being anticipated. In music, it’s a well-thought-out, coordinated process aimed at conveying the ideas and themes that surround the new offering. When implemented properly by an artist, it generates the desired buzz, anticipation, and excitement amongst fans.
Asake’s “Lungu Boy” is also expected to be released on streaming platforms before his 02 London show on the 21st of September and for the “Lungu Boy” world tour, which already kicked off with “Afronation” and “Wireless Festival.”
