Veteran music producer, Don Jazzy has revealed in details some of the things that happened to his defunct Mohits Records.
The Don made some startling revelations during interview with Bounce Radio having Media personality Ebuka Uchendu Obi as host.
According him, he was never in support of Wande Coal exiting the group and had literally pleaded with him to stay via several messages and dm’s but the star singer decided that a solo career was the best for him.
He added that the split wasn’t predicated by the popular single Babyface and that too many people weighing into the matter and giving their own talks made the singer decide he was going to leave.
Don Jazzy said he pleaded with the artist for years but he was resolute to his solo career decision.
In his words: “I did not let him go, you want me to go to my DM and show you different text messages of me begging him?”
“There are different messages of me sending him messages, i sent several messages like years… like 2012, 2013 at different times”
“Guy there’s still space here, i feel like we still have a lot of things that we can do”.
“But then, he (Wande Coal) is convinced and he is at a point where he’s handling his career by himself and he feels like Yo i do not need to be under anybody, I can do my thing myself. It’s perfectly understandable, fine, but then i did reach out a couple of times, plenty times because he’s a f@*king genius.“
He also refuted claims that the singer was not well treated in the label hence his decision to leave, saying that Wande Coal was an asset and someone he never wanted to lose.
He finally added that his years of experience in the industry had taught him that artistes will always get to a point where they would want to be independent and you can’t stop them.
