Joy Tongo the former manager to Cynthia Morgan who now goes by the stage name Madrina has finally come out to reveal her own side of the story that led to Cynthia Morgan’s fallout from her former record label, Jude Okoye and out of fame.
Early on Sunday morning a video of Cynthia Morgan emerged online via Instagram Live where she spoke about her dwindling music career and the problem she had with her former record label, Northside Records, how they frustrated her from using her stage name Cynthia Morgan, hijacked her Vevo account and also took over her Instagram account thereby rendering her incapacitated.
This video drew a lot of compassion from her fans who have been waiting patiently for the return of Cynthia Morgan only to find out she’s now a shadow of her former self, managing to survive. Her fans even started a GoFundMe account for her to revive her career back. That wasn’t all, Davido also reached out to her and asked her to call him, that he has a song for her to record together.
With all the sympathy she was getting, her former manager and former label boss were made to look like the villain and they didn’t like the negative image she was painting about them. Jude Okoye had to first clear his name from the whole matter and explain what exactly happened, how he helped her and spent over 40 Million Naira on her which he hasn’t recovered back despite collecting her Vevo account. He also said he did not stop her from using her former name and it was never in the contract she signed with him.
Her manager Joy Tongo has finally decided to clear her name by releasing a lengthy official statement about what actually transpired between her and Northside Records. According to her, she was the one that drafted the entire contract and Northside only added their logo to it and Cynthia Morgan signed the contract willingly. In the contract there wasn’t any place written that if she’s to leave the label she would forfeit her stage name.
Joy Tongo also revealed that Cythia Morgan after attaining a certain level of success began to feel bigger than the team and wanted out of the contract despite all the huge sum of money invested on her. She said when she realized that she was no longer manageable she had to part ways with her in 2016 and less than a year later Cynthia Morgan also left her former record label to float her own record label.
