Ace Nigerian singer, Mr P has revealed that he now makes more money as a solo singer.
Recall that the singer and dancer was once a significant pair of the defunct Psquare group that rocked Nigeria and Africa with their epic songs and albums.
The group had since split and both acts have been leading individual music careers ever since. But Peter Okoye who’s now identified as Mr P has revealed that he now makes more money alone, no longer having to share the proceeds of their efforts with two of his brothers.
He says it feels good to have his own money and not having it split into three like before and you can call it greed if you like but this is him doing his thing.
The singer who just released his debut album as a solo artist dubbed “The Prodigal”, made the revelation during an interview with HipTV.
In Peter Okoye’s words:
“Hundred percent, I am. I don’t have to share three ways. Call it greed or selfishness. It’s your own cup of tea. I share with nobody. Yes, my management and my team. Fine. But I’m doing my own thing. I’m freer.
I’m making more money. Freedom is key. I can get a call that there’s a show next week and it’s my daughter’s birthday. I can say, ‘cancel it’. As a group, I couldn’t do that. Moneywise, if I used to share three ways, I share alone.
What am I doing music for? It’s about doing it how I feel it. It’s not even about the money. But when it comes to that, I make more than I was while in the group,”
