Following the surprise release of Olamide’s 10th studio album, “Ikigai,” it has received immense love from fans and peers both home and abroad. Two weeks into its release, the popularly accepted project joined six of the rapper’s foregoing albums on the Official Billboard World Albums Chart, debuting at No. 13. Olamide’s Street OT debuted at the No. 4 spot on the Official Chart; The Glory as well as Lagos Nawa debuted at No. 6; Carpe Diem at No. 11; UY Scuti at No. 12; and finally Unruly at No. 10. The rapper sits at the top of this list with seven albums, right behind Fela Kuti, who has had nine of his albums debut on the Billboard World Album Charts.
“Ikigai/Purpose of Life” debuted at the 13th spot on the 9th of July and lasted a week before departing today, the 16th of July. Although Ikigai had a rather short stay, some tracks from the project still sit comfortably on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs Chart. “Ikigai” contains banger tracks that convey the fun side of Olamide as he parties and lives in the moment, reveling in the finer things of life.
