Ruger set to release “Why Always Ruger,” his second studio album, in 2025.
Two years after his introduction to the scene, on the first of September 2023, Ruger released his debut album, “Ru The World,” featuring guest artists like Stefflon Don, Projexx, Sauti Sol, and so on. The album included tracks like “I Want Peace,” “Blue,” “Addiction,” “All My Days,” and the viral “Asiwaju,” which has amassed almost 125 million streams on Spotify alone.
Subsequently, in a post this morning on his social media handles commemorating one year since the release of his debut album, Ruger announced his sophomore album, titled “Why Always Ruger” (WAR), to be released in 2025.
Since his dramatic entrance into the Nigerian music scene, Ruger’s often lustful music continues to have fans in a chokehold, especially his female fans. Signed to Jonzing World Entertainment in 2021, Ruger’s first release, “One Shirt,” championed his unique sound and style, followed closely by another single, “Ruger,” in the coming month. Both singles announced his presence in the Nigerian music scene, blending dancehall and afrobeats. Ruger soon won a dedicated following and eventually released his first EP, which went platinum in sub-Saharan Africa. The project pushed the boundaries of his striking signature style and charismatic execution to the world.
Ruger mentioned in a video accompanying the post that his debut album was inspired by and focused on his real-life experiences. And, like his debut and collaboration project with Bnxn, we can expect exquisite music delivered through the prism of romance, heartbreak, undertones of toxicity, and Ruger’s lifestyle.
