Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has secured a nomination for Crossover Artist of the Year at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards, as announced by Roc Nation. The 23-year-old star, celebrated for her soulful voice and genre-blending style, is recognized for her global influence and ability to fuse Afrobeats with diverse musical cultures, making her a standout in the competitive category. 

The nomination places her alongside heavyweights such as Bruno Mars, Ty Dolla $ign, benny blanco, ROSE, and Rvssian, underscoring how her sound has resonated across borders and languages. For Ayra Starr, who’s already scored collaborations that bridge continents, this nod reflects both her versatility and the growing presence of African artists in global Latin music conversations.

With 49 categories spanning Latin pop, tropical, regional Mexican, and Latin rhythm, the ceremony is one of the genre’s most expansive celebrations, and Ayra’s inclusion in a marquee crossover category signals just how far her music has traveled.

The awards, which honor the best in Latin music based on performance on Billboard’s weekly charts from September 14, 2024, to September 6, 2025, will air live on Telemundo and Peacock on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET from the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida. The event will also stream on the Telemundo app and across Latin America and the Caribbean via Telemundo Internacional, reaching millions in over 22 countries.
